Roseboro
Mr. Richard Bullard, 87, of Roseboro, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at his home surrounded by his family.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, March 1, 2026 at Evergreen Baptist Church in Autryville with Reverend Charles Davis, Reverend Keith Dowd and Reverend Tommy Honeycutt officiating. The burial will follow at Evergreen Baptist Church Cemetery with Fireman’s Honors.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro.
Richard was a lifetime member of Evergreen Baptist Church. He loved his family, community, camping friends, and the Beaver Dam Bear Club members who he met through his son, Frankie, after retirement from farming.
He enjoyed restoring antique farm equipment and was one of the founders of the Old Fashioned Planters Day in White Oak, NC.
Richard had a passion for the Beaver Dam Fire Department volunteering for 40 years. Upon his retirement after 30 years as Fire Chief, he was awarded North Carolina’s highest civilian honor, “The Order of the Long Leaf Pine” for community service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thad and Dorothy Smith Bullard; son, Frankie Bullard; brother, Roscoe Bullard and wife, Patricia Godwin Bullard; and brother-in-law, Lindsey Cundiff.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Virginia Register Bullard; daughter, Cindy Bullard Page (Steven) of Stedman; daughter-in-law, Sharon Bullard of Salemburg; grandchildren, Ashton B. Nichols (Brooks) of Raleigh; Colby Bullard of Fayetteville; and Brandon Sessoms of Salemburg; sister, Emily Cundiff; brothers, Jerry Bullard (Jewell) and Jesse Bullard (Wilma Lee) all of Roseboro; and by in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.
