Mr. Rondy Dean Phillips, 59

June 21, 1953 — March 25, 2013

FAYETTEVILLE Rondy Dean Phillips, born June 21, 1953, in Shea, Tenn. (Beach Fork), on top of a mountain, behind the Fellowship Baptist Church, to Nancy Carroll Phillips and Isaac Phillips, passed away in his home on Monday, March 25, 2013, after a long battle with poor health. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Rondal (a twin to Rendal) and Billy. He is survived by a daughter, Candy and husband, Kevin Bright, and granddaughter, Alexis of San Antonio, Tom and Bonnie Phillips of College Corner, Ind., J.C. and Lorene Phillips of Richmond, Ind., Rendal and Jackie Phillips of Eastover, Erma and Mick Richardson of College Corner, Della and Walt Harper of Stedman, Nancy and Ernest Szymkowiak of Fayetteville; and many nieces and nephews. Rondy Dean attended Stoney Fork Elementary School, until his family moved to College Corner, Ohio, where he graduated from Union High School in 1972. Shortly after graduation, he joined the U.S. Army, where he spent four years and received several awards, one as a marksman for his unit. He received a letter of commendation for exceptional performance of duty. On November 17, 1976, he received an honorable discharge from the Army. He was a disabled veteran, who loved to fish and hunt, especially with his brother, Billy. He was an avid fan of NASCAR racing. His favorite car was No. 28. Another of his greatest loves was bluegrass bluegrass music. He spent many days going to bluegrass jams with his brother, Rendal, who played mandolin with the group of friends in Franklinton. Rondy Dean Phillips will be missed by many, especially his family. Services: Funeral, 3 p.m. Saturday, March 30, 2013, at Stedman Baptist Church. Burial will be in Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Salemburg. Visitation, 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 29, 2013, at Butler Funeral Home, Clinton Road in Stedman. If desired, memorials may be made in Rondy Dean's name to the Disable Veterans of America or a charity of one's choice.
