Mr. Roger Allen Labor, Jr., 78, of Salemburg, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 29, 2026 at Duke University Hospital in Durham.

A Celebration of Life service with Military Honors will be held at 2:30 PM on Sunday, October 11, 2026 at Piney Green Missionary Baptist Church in Salemburg with Reverend Donald Keith Carter officiating.

Mr. Labor was born in Suffix County, New York, the son of Roger Allen Labor, Sr. and Ann Virginia Johnson Fann. He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father, Stewart Fann; a brother, David Labor; and a sister, Sherry Fann.

Roger had a true love for the cowboy way of life and took great pride in caring for his horses, especially Babe, who held a special place in his heart. He had a special way with animals, and they seemed to naturally take to him. Whether it was a horse, a dog, or just about any animal, they loved him—and he loved them right back. He also had a passion for old cars and could often be found tinkering, fixing, and figuring out how to make something work. He loved working with his hands and was always willing to take on a project. While carpentry may not have been his strongest skill, that certainly never stopped him from trying. His love for animals, old cars, horses, and simply fixing things were all part of what made Roger who he was.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 43 years, Christine Arkwright Labor; two daughters, Kim Dye, and Amanda Lewis and husband Jerry; a son, Roger William Labor; two step-daughters, Mindy Stephens and husband Mark, and Bonnie Garlisch and husband Dan; eleven grandchildren, Venessa Espinosa and husband, Chris, Sarah Surles and husband Will, Katie Garlisch, Shannon Stephens, Jerel Lewis, Joseph Lewis, Marc Labor, Ashley Locklear, RJ Labor, Erin Dye, Beth Milford, and Patricia Milford; two brothers, Richard Labor, and Kenneth Fann and wife Deborah; a sister, Patricia Eisenhach and husband Danny; and six great grandchildren and serveral nieces and nephews.
