Mrs. Roberta Hall Gainey

Stedman Mrs. Roberta Hall Gainey, of Stedman, passed away Friday, March 7, 2008 at Southwood Nursing and Retirement Center in Clinton. A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 10, 2008 at 3:oo p. m. at Magnolia Baptist Church with Dr. Bob Phipps, Rev. Roger White and Rev. Jerry Parsons officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Gainey was born May 17, 1931 to the late John and Nettie Bulla Hall and was the youngest of 6 children. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 31 years, Donald "Sonny" Gainey, her sisters, Ruth Bullock and Katie Royal, and her brother Richard Hall. She was a graduate of Stedman High School and East Carolina University, she taught at Stedman High School, now known as Stedman Primary School for 39 1/2 years. She was a dedicated member of Magnolia Baptist Church in Stedman where she taught Sunday School for many years. Mrs. Gainey never had any children of her own, however was a mother to many nieces and nephews, neighborhood children and to hundrends that she taught. She is survived by: sisters, Marie Jackson, of Stedman and Bertha Robinson and husband Johnny, of Boone, NC. A visitation will be held on Monday, March 10, 2008 from 1:00 till 2:45 pm at Magnolia Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Magnolia Baptist Church, 1021 Magnolia Church Road, Stedman, NC 28391 or to your favorite charity.
