Robert Wilbur Peterson, Jr., 88 went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, April 4, 2024 at Faith Builders Christian Center (2600 Wade Stedman Rd., Stedman), officiating will be Rev. Casey Welker.  Burial will follow at Clinton City Cemetery with military honors.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Thursday at the church before the service.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Wilbur Peterson, Sr. and Katie Lou Pridgen Peterson; and his siblings, Gene Peterson and Judy Bloodworth.

He was a member of Faith Builders Christian Center, and he also served 9 years with the Army National Guard.   He loved fishing, gardening, and spending time with his family.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of almost 70 years, Lela “Elma” Tew Peterson of the home; children, Kim Peterson (Rosie) of Fayetteville, Dianne Rapolla (Mike) of Stedman, Lisa Autry (Jeff) of Monroe, Paula Woolard (Troy) of Fayetteville, Steve Peterson (Becky) of Clement, and Robert Peterson, III (Polly) of Stedman; grandchildren, Jessica Teague (Bradley), Jeremy Peterson, Sebastian Garcia, Veronica Garcia, Erica Lucas, Samantha Rapolla, Rachel Smith(Garrett), Timothy Woolard(Jesse), Zachary, Matthew and Nicolas Woolard, Caleb Peterson (Caitlin), Abby Peterson, Robert Peterson, IV, and Ryan and Rhianna Peterson; great grandchildren, Brittany, Hunter and Emma Teague, Nathanial, Natalee and Layla Peterson, Layne Savarese, Briana and Alayna Gaines, and Graylyn Woolard; and sister, Bonnie King (Jerry) of Lumberton.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Wilbur's honor to Faith Builders Christian Center for the Youth Ministry, 2600 Wade Stedman Road, Stedman, NC  28391.
