Mr. Robert Dale Carpenter

STEDMAN Mr. Robert Dale Carpenter, 87, of 343 Euclid St., Apt. 3, died at his home Friday, April 25, 2008. He was a native of Acme, Michigan, the son of James Carpenter and Mable Housmer. He was a Chief Warrant Officer III, retired, with the 82nd Airborne Division, US Army. He served in both WWII and the Korean conflict and was awarded two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. He was a retired deputy with the Cumberland County Sheriffs Dept. He was preceded in death by his wife, Daisy Mae Carpenter and daughter, Linda Carpenter. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, April 28 at Cumberland Memorial Gardens. Mr. Carpenter is survived by five daughters, Bobbie Dale Leopard of Concord, Shirlee Ann Love of Gastonia, Patricia Alphin of Wade, Nancy Carpenter of Fayetteville and Susie Blythe of Concord; three sons, Robert Dale Carpenter, Jr. of Hope Mills, James Carpenter of Stedman and John Carpenter of Fayetteville; three brothers, Durwood Carpenter, Marcel Carpenter and Marvin Carpenter, all of Michigan; fifteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Sunday, April 27 at Butler Funeral Home in Stedman.
