Mr. Robert Byron Cain, 79 went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at Southwood Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church with the Reverend Andrew B. Wood and Reverend Chris Butler officiating. The burial will follow at Roseboro Cemetery with Fire, Rescue & EMS Honors.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Friday, April 15, 2022 at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro and at other times at the home of his daughter, Roberta Parker.
Mr. Cain was a native of Bladen County, the son of George and Mary Kate Cain. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 46 years, Faye Parker Cain; four sisters, Peggy Smith, Leola Collier, Mary Hair and Pamelle Ellis; and two brothers, Max Bullard and Pete Bullard.
Mr. Cain organized Roseboro Rescue in 1973 and served as Captain for many years. He was a member of the Roseboro Fire Department. He also served as a Roseboro Town Commissioner. He was employed with Butler Funeral Home for 52 years.
He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Roberta Parker and husband, Ken; the light of his life, two granddaughters, Meghan Parker Core and husband Ethan; and Sydney Danielle Parker and boyfriend, Josh Baggett; his special companion of 12 years, Brenda Tanner along with her children and grandchildren; two sisters, Sudie Roa of Fayetteville; and Margaret Wright of PA; and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to say a special thanks to Southwood Nursing and Liberty Hospice for the care and comfort.
