Richard Michael Campion, 76 went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at Bethabara Methodist Church in Autryville, officiating will be Rev. Ray Burkart.  Burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 1:50 PM Tuesday at the church prior to the service.

Richard was born in Bronx, New York to the late Harry Campion and Laura Harris Mason.  In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his step-father who helped raise him, Hugh Mason; a step-brother, Tommy Mason.

Richard was a member of Bethabara Methodist Church and he was a United States Air Force Veteran, having served in the Vietnam War.  He also loved going to car shows, and had a love for all animals.  He had a famous saying when someone would ask him if he could do something; his response was “I’m from The Bronx I can do anything”.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 28 years, Mabel Williams Campion of the home; daughter, Kristin Haggerty & husband, Michael of Humble, TX; step-daughter, Lana McLamb & husband, Kevin of Roseboro; step-son, Jimmy Butler of Autryville; grandchildren, Devin McLamb & wife, Jessica, Ryan McLamb and Jason Butler; great grandchildren, Riley Baggett, Octavia and Madelyn McLamb; and a brother, Harold Campion of Autryville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Bethabara Methodist Church, 5316 Maxwell Road, Autryville, NC  28318.
