ROSEBORO
Reverend Roger Aubigne White, of Roseboro, passed away December 22, 2016 at home.
Roger was born September 15, 1929 to Lyman Abbott and Irene Tart White. He spent his childhood at a farm outside of Salemburg, NC. In 1950, he enlisted in the US Air Force and served four years at the Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. In addition to his service in the ministry, his other vocations included guidance counselor, elementary school principal, and Br’er Rabbit storyteller.
After the death of Inez, Roger became reacquainted with a former Campbell classmate, Mildred Pahl, who became his wife and helpmate on June 21, 1986. During their 30 year marriage, she was completely devoted to his children and grandchildren as well as his many church families.
Roger was involved with many different civic groups, including the New South River Baptist Association, Campbell University Board of Ministers, Sampson County Gospel Sing, and the Lions Club. Roger’s hobbies included tree farming, gardening, hunting, and fishing, but more importantly, visiting the sick and shut-in and generally being a servant in any way God would lead.
