Ret. Chief Petty Officer M. B. Barefoot, 86 of Roseboro went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at his home.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro with the Reverend Andy Wood officiating. The burial will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens with Full Military honors.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:50 PM on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at the funeral home prior to the service.

Mr. Barefoot was a native of Sampson County, the son of Hardie and Pearl Godwin Barefoot. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Wilma Jean Barefoot; his daughter, Melissa J. Barefoot; and three brothers, Carl Barefoot, Billy Barefoot and Robert E. Barefoot.

M. B. was a member of Beulah Methodist Church. He worked as a Clerk for the U.S. Postal Service in Roseboro. He retired after 22 years as a Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy.

He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Sara L. Stephen of Clinton; four grandchildren, Melissa Deem (Chris), Donald Ray Turner, Jr. (Kelly), James R. Turner (Donna) and Matthew K. Barefoot (Sarah); and fifteen great-grandchildren.
