Ron House was born to Bruce and Maggie House, hardworking and deeply godly parents who instilled strong values in their family. Ron was the eighth child and grew up working alongside his father and brothers. From an early age, he developed a love for the outdoors, especially time spent in the woods.
Ron graduated from Ayden High School and soon afterward joined the United States Air Force. He married his high school sweetheart, Mildred, and together they moved to Lubbock, Texas. During his military career, Ron became a flying crew chief for helicopters and earned distinction as one of the Air Force’s most notable mechanics. He served with the Aerospace Rescue and Recovery Service and was stationed at many locations around the world, including France, Turkey, Spain, Africa, Thailand and numerous temporary assignments. After 20 years of dedicated service, Ron retired from the Air Force in 1980 at Pope Air Force Base.
Following his military retirement, Ron devoted his life to serving the Lord. He pastored his first church in Grifton, North Carolina while attending East Carolina University. He later moved to Cleveland, Tennessee where he graduated from Lee College and went on to earn a master’s degree in Pastoral Care and Counseling from the Church of God, School of Theology.
Ron pastored the Clarkview Christian Service Center at Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines, where his ministry flourished. Under his leadership, the center became one of the largest Church of God ministries in the Far East. After returning to the United States, he pastored churches including Tabb Church of God in Hampton, Virginia and Leesburg Church of God. He was led to Yorktown, VA to begin a new work. Ron also served as a social worker for ten years.
In 2005, Ron and Mildred moved to Stedman, NC for retirement, though Ron never truly stopped serving. He taught school for five years in Cumberland County, taught middle school at Stedman Pentecostal Holiness Christian Academy and faithfully taught Sunday School at Stedman PH Church for many years. Ron later accepted the position of administrator for Emma’s Kids in Zambia, Africa, making numerous trips there to fulfill his commitment to the ministry.
Ron enjoyed boating, fishing, gardening, woodworking, building nearly anything and feeding the birds in his backyard. A hard-working man, he gave 100 percent in everything he did. He was talented in many ways and deeply loved his family.
Ron was married to his beloved wife, Mildred, for 65 years. He is survived by his daughter, Kelly; son-in-law, Bill; granddaughter, Rebecca; and great-grandson, Tripp. He was preceded in death by his son, Stacey Kevin House, in 1992. Ron is also survived by his brother, Billy Wooten House of Raleigh, NC and numerous nieces and nephews.
