Ret. MSGT Major "Smoke Anderson" Elwood Anderson, 78 passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

A memorial service will full military honors will be held at a later date.

He was born in Pender County, and was a Retired MSGT with the United States Army with over 23 years of service, including being a Vietnam War Veteran.  In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his brothers, Julian Ray Anderson (died in the Vietnam War) and Merle Anderson.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Onnie Carter Anderson; daughter, Darlene Elizabeth Frisby; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
