Ret. SSG Mr. Charles Jerome Atkinson, 76 passed away Monday, July 16, 2018 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Graveside service with full military honors will be held at 12:00pm Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery, Spring Lake.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Kirven Dunnie and Annie Eliza Hopkins Dunnie; sister, Louise Hoover; and brothers, Tetep and Hoyt Atkinson. He also retired from the United States Army.

He is survived by his adopted daughter, Kimberly Voelker of Fayetteville; sisters, Sally Horner of Florence, SC, Thelma Pack of Sumter, SC, Jan Goodson of Sumter, SC and Carolyn Jeffcoat of Orangeburg, SC; brother, James Atkinson of Florence, SC and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
