Ms. Rebecca Maxine Williams, 88 of Autryville went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at the Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at Clement Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Keith officiating.  Burial follow in the Maxwell Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 10:50 AM at Clement Baptist Church on Tuesday prior to the service.  At other times the family will receive friends at the home of Robert and Kathy McPhail, 815 Halltown Road, Autryville, NC.

Ms. Williams was born on June 3, 1935 to Daniel Walter and Roberta Ann Bain Williams in Sampson County near Autryville.  She was preceded in death by her parents; son, James Walter McPhail and sister, Clara Ann Highsmith.

She was a member of McMillian Presbyterian Church.  She worked at Fayetteville Observer, Fleishman’s Big Store and then at Belk at Cross Creek Mall.

She is survived by three sons, Robert McPhail and wife, Kathy of Autryville, Michael McPhail and wife, Sherry of Stedman and Steven McPhail and wife, Susan of Salemburg; seven grandchildren, Nicole Lacoche, Robert McPhail, Marcus McPhail, Drew McPhail, Daniel McPhail, Adam McPhail and Nathan Tew; and ten great- grandchildren.
