Stedman
Rebecca Phail Bullock (Coats), affectionally know as Becky, passed away on October 27th, 2024, in Stedman, North Carolina, at the age of 82. Born on September 11th, 1942, in Newton Grove, at the doctor’s home, she lived a life marked by kindness and community involvement to include a Sunday School Teacher at Macedonia Baptist Church. Becky’s life included Family, Friends, and Flowers.
Preceded in death by her mama, Joanna Tart Coats and daddy, William Vance Coats. She used to say, “I’m like my daddy”. After graduation, Becky married her husband of 35 years, and preceded in death, Reden Jerome Bullock.
CHILDREN: Include Sheila Bullock Oliver, husband Gregory Oliver of Stedman, Jeffery Jerome Bullock, wife Jennifer Fungo of Maryland and preceded in death by her youngest son, Richard Dwayne Bullock as mom lived in devastation, but gratitude of wonderful and varied experiences.
GRANDCHILDERN: Becky was known by everyone as NANA. Her grandchildren include the following: Lana Michelle Oliver Haynes, husband Scott Haynes, of Wilmington, Alisha Jayne Oliver DeSarno, and husband Michael DeSarno, of Charlotte, Jeffery Jerome Bullock Jr, of Goldsboro, Greyson Emanuel Bullock, of Tega Cay, and Joanna S. Bullock of Dundalk.
GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Samantha Grace Haynes, of Wilmington, Carson Landon DeSarno, of Charlotte, and Harper Wynne Haynes of Wilmington. Grand pups are Sidney Bella DeSarno, preceded in death by Lola Haynes and Butterball Bullock.
SIBLINGS: Her siblings include William Penn Coats, wife Alma McPhail Coats, of Salemburg, Gloria Coats Faircloth, and husband Dwight Faircloth of N. Myrtle Beach. Gloria made daily check-in calls for well-being. Her younger sister, Maybelle Coats Milor, and her husband Don Milor, of Autryville. Maybelle was a sister and friend that drove mom to the doctor and especially hair appointments on Thursday. Mom had close relationships with various nephews, nieces, and cousins.
FLOWERS: Moms passion for flowers included owning a florist business for 20 years where she showcased her creativity with unique floral arrangements. Her favorite rose color was lipstick. In addition to her floral work, she also owned a ceramics business where she painted with strokes to create beautiful art.
Mom always had a pressure cooker of turnip greens and cheese hotdogs for the grandchildren. She attended different senior activities with her companion, James Clark. In her 82 years, mom experienced an abundance of life.
Becky’s friendship encompassed all aspects of life. She played basketball and was a cheerleader at Clement High School. Voted “Friendliest”. From phone call chats to sharing meals, church charities to class reunions, even in times of sadness and difficulty in her life; she smiled. Mom took the road less traveled, and that made all the difference.
CELEBRATION OF LIFE will be held at Halls Methodist Church in Autryville, NC on Saturday, November 2, 2024. The family will be present for visitation at 1:00 PM, funeral service at 2:30 PM immediately followed by graveside service. The family has invited everyone to Becky’s home for dinner following all services.
