Ray R. Naylor, 77
SALEMBURG-Mr. Ray Randolph Naylor, 77, of 4464 Tyndall Bridge Rd., went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 9, 2010 at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro. He fought an eight-year battle with cancer and hoped that one day there will be a cure. He was a salesman for Lee Brick and Tile Co. in Sanford for 48 years after serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church. He was a man who loved his Lord, his church, his work, and he was a friend to all who met him.
Mr. Naylor is survived by two daughters, Wanda Sue Kelly Ellis and husband Timmy and Trilma Ann Odom and husband Micky, all of Salemburg; two grandchildren, Jason Kelly and Amy Kelly; five step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; five brothers, James T. Naylor of Sanford, Bruce Naylor of Lumberton, Floyd Naylor of Raleigh, Donnie Naylor of Roseboro, and Johnnie Naylor of Winston-Salem; one sister, Faye Barefoot of Roseboro; a special friend, Amalie J. Williams of Autryville; and his work family from Lee Brick and Tile Co.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tilghman and Gurda D. Naylor; his wife, Alice Freeman Naylor; and a brother, Gertice Naylor.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 11, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro and other times at the home. A funeral service will be held Thursday, August 12, at 11 a.m., at Union Grove Baptist Church in Salemburg with the Rev. Allen West and the Rev. Paul Honeycutt officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
