Mrs. Rachel S. Surles, 82

ROSEBORO Mrs. Rachel Hope Sullivan Surles, 82 of 9965 Boykin Bridge Road, died on Monday, November 9, 2009 at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh. The funeral will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Spell officiating. Burial will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Salemburg. Mrs. Surles was born on January 31, 1927 in Cherokee County, S.C., to the late Harold and Letha Parker Sullivan. She is preceded in death by: her husband, Calvin Hoover Surles; her parents; and her sister, Freda Hicks. She worked as a School Teacher for over 36 years. Mrs. Surles is survived by: one daughter, Susan Surles of Charlotte; one son, Steve Surles of Waterloo, Iowa; several nieces and nephews, and several great nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. at Butler Funeral Home, 401 W. Roseboro Street, Roseboro, and other times at the home.
