Mr. Pierce Brantley Matthews, 21

GODWIN Mr. Pierce Brantley Matthews, 21 of Godwin passed away Saturday, August 30, 2014 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 2pm Thursday, September 4, 2014 at Butler Funeral Home Chapel in Stedman, officiating will be Rev. David Hughes and Rev. Ronnie Grizzle. Interment will follow at Maxwell Cemetery. He is preceded in death by father, Bobby Matthews; grandparents, Cecil and Pauline Matthews and Paul and Beatrice Hobson; uncles, Cecil Matthews and Paul Hobson, Jr.; aunt, Carolyn Culbreth and husband, Jimmy and aunt, Pauletta Hobson. Pierce loved baseball, hunting, fishing and especially being with his family and he also loved his dog Jessie. He was fun loving, giving and he was loved by everyone who knew him. To his family and friends he was known as the "best hugger". He was a member of Benson First Assembly Church. He is survived by his mother, Wanda Hobson House; sister, Lydia Matthews; aunts, Donna Williams and husband, Jim, Joann Starling and husband M.F., Paula Matthews, Katie Jackson and husband, Harry, Brenda Hobson Honeycutt and husband, Max, Cindy Wood and husband, Gary; uncles, A.B. Matthews and wife, Ruth Mary, Gene Hobson, Edward Hobson and wife, Sylvia, Steve Hobson and wife, Kathy, Donald Hobson, Tommy Hobson and wife, Denise and Quincy Hobson and wife, Darlene. The family will receive friends 6-8 pm Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family may be made to Butler Funeral Home, P.O.
