Mr. Phillip M. "P.M." Gooden, 78

ELIZABETHTOWN

Mr. Phillip M. "P.M." Gooden, 78 of 278 Willard Tatum Road, Elizabethtown, passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at Elizabethtown Nursing Center.

He was born on July 12, 1938 in Bladen County and is preceded in death by his parents, Linzie and Ella Mae Miller Gooden; and daughter, Donna Gooden. He worked with Ford Motor Company in Elizabethtown for 21 years and then taught school at East Bladen High School for 20 years.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia S. Gooden of the home; grandchildren, Pamela Rice of Fairmont, Travis Rice of Elizabethtown; great granddaughter, Elyn Rice; and brothers, Bobby Gooden and wife Barbara of Abbottsburg, Kenny Gooden and wife Sherlon of Elizabethtown, Benny Gooden of New Jersey.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 pm Thursday at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro and other times at the home.

The funeral will be held at 3:00 pm Friday at Colly Chapel Church, Harrells, with Pastor Jim Woodruff officiating. Interment will follow at Bladen Memorial Gardens, Elizabethtown.

Services are by Butler Funeral Home, 401 W. Roseboro Street, Roseboro.
