Pepe Gerard Swanson-Aguilar

WILMINGTON

Mr. Pepe Gerard Swanson-Aguilar, 43, of Wilmington, went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 5, 2025 at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, September 11, 2025 at Basilica Shrine of St. Mary in Wilmington, NC. The burial will be at 1:00 PM on Friday, September 12, 2025 at Lafayette Memorial Park in Fayetteville, NC.

A viewing will take place from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM on Friday, September 12, 2025 at Butler Funeral Home in Stedman prior to the burial.

Pepe G.S. Aguilar was born on May 23, 1982 in Fayetteville, NC to Jesse Aguilar, Jr. and Dorothy Aguilar. Pepe followed his father's example by proudly joining the National Guard as well as the Army to serve his country. He was also a dedicated police officer serving for 22 years. He enjoyed history and researching genealogy. His favorite superhero was batman. He loved playing the guitar. He was a loving son, brother, and grandson. He was a devoted husband to his wife Norma. Pepe was truly cherished by his family and friends. He was a devout Roman Catholic whose faith never wavered despite the challenges he faced with his sickness. He was a warrior to the end- he never gave up fighting to live. We know God was proud of him and that he heard "well done thy good and faithful servant". We know he is in heaven reunited with his grandmother Lavone and we will see him again but until then we will love him always and he will forever be in our hearts. He was preceded in death by a cousin, Mark Stewart, his grandmother, Lavone Stewart; and his great-grandmother, Thelma Stewart.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Norma Gelabert; his parents, Jesse Aguilar, Jr. and Dorothy Aguilar; and a sister, Dora Aguilar.
