Pearl Williams Faircloth August 28, 1932 - May 17, 2022 Pearl Williams Faircloth, 89, from Stedman, passed away at the Gardens of Roseboro in Roseboro, NC on Tuesday, May 17, 2022.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David (D.C.) Faircloth, three brothers, Quinton Williams, Rudy Williams, and Fred Williams, and three sisters, Lutie Ezell, Rita Campbell, and Adine Johnson.

She is survived by her children, Cathy Kinlaw and husband Tim, Thomas (Tommy), Faircloth and wife Carol St. Louis, and three grandsons, Daniel Faircloth, David Kinlaw, and Robert Kinlaw and wife Alexis.

Raised by parents who experienced the trials of the Great Depression, she learned the value of hard work, responsibility, and a day’s wage at a very young age.   At the age of 11 she was in demand as a babysitter for young families in Roseboro, and  by the time she was a teenager, she  worked at the local five and dime store to earn enough spending money to buy her clothes.

In 1950, she graduated from Roseboro High School, where she excelled in mathematics. She went to work as a bookkeeper for McMillan Furniture Company.   Later, she was employed by the Fayetteville business giant, W.E. Godwin where she kept financial records for his many business adventures.   After his death, she continued to manage his affairs for the estate, which included overseeing and managing seven corporations, one of which was one of the largest privately owned water-works company in North Carolina.

She gave generously to her family and her community. She and her husband were members of the Stedman Community Development Club and were founding contributors to the CARE Clinic in Fayetteville. In Stedman, the two purchased over 50 grave stones for unmarked graves at Fisher Cemetery, most of which were for children. They also supported the Stedman museum, and were active members of Cokesbury United Methodist Church.  Until her death, she was the matriarch of her beloved Williams family. Funeral services will be at 2:30 PM on Sunday, May 22, 2022, at Cokesbury UMC in Stedman. A visitation will take place from 1:45 - 2:15 PM in the sanctuary. A graveside service at Roseboro Cemetery will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to Cokesbury United Methodist Church, or to a charity that is close to your heart.
