Eastover

Paul Wayne Smith, 75 passed away Friday, December 2, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born in Cumberland County to the late Paul W. Smith and Mamie E. McLaurin Smith. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Lynn Smith and a brother, Geddie Ray Smith.

He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church for over 63 years, he worked at numerous textile companies, was a volunteer fireman with Eastover for 25 years and he retired from Purolator in 2002.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Helen Smith of the home; children, Gregory Wayne Smith and wife, Rhonda of Godwin and Sandra Leigh Smith of Eastover; 2 grandchildren, Jessica R. Smith of Wilmington and Justin Ray Smith of Godwin; and a brother, Robert A. Smith and wife, Elizabeth of New York.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Monday, December 5, 2016 at Salem United Methodist Church, officiating will be Pastor David Beck. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12:30pm to 2:00pm Monday at the church prior to the service.
