Patricia Louise (Barnes) Burton, 73 went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, June 4, 2023 at Butler Funeral Home Chapel in Stedman, officiating will be Rev. Ray Burkhart.  Burial will follow at Pleasant Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Roseboro.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 2:50 PM Sunday at the funeral home prior to the service.

Patricia was born in Sampson County to the late, Bryan Barnes and Agnes Hall Barnes.  In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her sister, Joann Cowles; and a niece, Erica Graham.

She worked as an Administrative Officer at the North Carolina Veterans Hospital in Fayetteville for 36 years.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband John Burton; children, Christopher Burton & wife, Courtney, and Paige Shaffer & husband, James; grandchildren, Camille and Emily Shaffer, Marcus and Dashiell Burton; sister, Effie McPhail; brother and sister-in-law, Robert Cowles and Dorothy Baker; nephew, Bryan Cowles; niece, Tammy Smoak & husband, Gary; and a great niece, Morgan Smoak.
