Mrs. Oleta Strickland Matthews, 90

WADE Mrs. Oleta Strickland Matthews, 90 of 5872 Deerstand Road, Wade, died on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 2, 2011 at Stedman Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Randal Strickland and Rev. Randy Barker officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Matthews was born on May 2, 1921 and was a native of Cumberland County. She is preceded in death by her husband, Wade Matthews; her son-in-law, Harvey Johnson; and a great granddaughter, Addison Culbreth. She was a homemaker. She is survived by: four daughters, Joyce Smith and husband, Woodrow of Salemburg, Annette Johnson of Wade, Gale Bullard and husband, Mack of Wade and Karen Melvin and husband, Glenn of Autryville; two sisters, Christine Faircloth of Stedman and Oma Lee Brown of Charleston, SC; nine grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. at Butler Funeral Home, in Stedman, and other times at the home.
