Mrs. Nellie G. Smith, 88

ROSEBORO Mrs. Nellie Gillis Smith, 88 of 13216 NC Hwy. 210 S., died on Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 30, 2009 at 3:00 P.M. at Beaver Dam Baptist Church with Dr. Lynn Bullock officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Smith was born in 1921 in Hoke County to the late Neil and Ida Thornton Gillis. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Warren Smith. She worked as an Assembly Technician with Veeder Root. Mrs. Smith is survived by: three daughters, Faye Johnson of Fayetteville, Grace Bullard of Roseboro, and Linda Tatum of Fayetteville; one sister, Cara Lee Parker of Fayetteville; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 7 until 9 P.M. at Butler Funeral Home, 401 W. Roseboro Street, Roseboro.
