Roseboro-Myrtle Rose Graham Herring Vinson of 908 Roseboro Street went to be with her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, April 11, 2007 after an extended illness. Myrtle was born in Robeson County on August 30, 1918 to the late Archie and Lena Graham. Myrtle retired from Roseboro First Citizens Bank in 1983 after 38 years of service. For those that knew her, Myrtle will be remembered as a loving, compassionate, and generous woman. Myrtle Vinson, a Christian lady with many talents, was a faithful member of Roseboro Baptist Church. She has served as Church Treasurer, Deacon, Choir Member, Finance Committee Member, and Communion Steward. She also helped to establish the Ladies Prayer Group, which she led every Monday morning prior to her illness. In addition to her many contributions to her church, she also brought her enthusiasm and talents to the community. She served as President of the Roseboro Woman's Club and held offices on the District Level (Vice President, Secretary-Treasurer, and Chaplain) while serving as President. Myrtle was also active in the Athenia-Lanier Club. Myrtle's love and support of friends was only surpassed by her devotion and love for her family. She is survived by a daughter, Nicky Herring Cox and husband, Jerry Cox of Bentonville; two grandchildren, Vince Cox and his wife, Amy of Bentonville; Clark Cox and his wife, Jill of Columbia, SC; four great-grandchildren, Caleb, Aaron, Camryn, and Avery Cox; one sister, Helen Downey of Springfield, TN; two brothers, Norman Graham and his wife, Christine of Richmond, VA and Irvin Graham and his wife, Patricia of Wallace, NC. She is preceded in death by her husbands, David Mack Herring and Herman Vinson; two sisters, Neal Eakins and Clara Whitfield; and two brothers, Dickson Graham and Wayland Graham. A service to celebrate Myrtle's life will be held Saturday, April 14 at 2:00 p.m. at Roseboro First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Roseboro Cemetery. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Roseboro First Baptist Church, Attn: Pastor Roger White, P.O. Box 306, Roseboro, NC 28382 or the American Cancer Society, 930B Wellness Drive, Greenville, NC 27834. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. at Roseboro First Baptist Church and at other times at her home.
