Miss Mary Elizabeth Mcmurray, 102

FAYETTEVILLE Miss Mary Elizabeth "Lib" McMurray was born July 2, 1909 in Garvin, Oklahoma, the daughter of Taylor Brown McMurray and Mary Farrell McMurray. She graduated from Columbia Bible College in Columbia, S.C. "Lib" taught Bible for 45 years in public school in Cabarrus County. After retiring she applied to the Foreign Mission Board to serve as a missionary. However, due to her age she was turned down. She then at her own expense served in Alaska as a missionary for one year and in New Guinea for two years. Miss McMurray resided in Kannapalis, NC for many years, and had been in Fayetteville for the past 12 years in assisted living and nursing homes. She is survived by cousins, Susie Kauffmann of Atlanta, GA, Margaret J. McCarthy and Grace Ivey of Fayetteville, Rebecca C. Dawkins of Southern Pines and Norman Cooper of Dunn.
