Mr. Mirdie Oliver Hill, Jr., who was best known as “Junior” of 103 West Pine Street, Salemburg passed peacefully in his home on Saturday, August 7, 2021, surrounded by his family. He was 90 years old.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, August 10 at Zoar Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Randy Barker and Dan Heniz officiating. The family will receive family and friends immediately following the service. There will be a walk through viewing on Monday, August 9 from 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro.
Junior was a long time resident of Sampson County. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, father-in-law, grandpa and Pepa. He was the owner and operator of Hill’s Grocery for many years. Junior was a lifetime member of Zoar Church where he served as usher for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mirdie Oliver Hill and Ila Marie Hill. Junior is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Doris Hill of the home; his daughters, Diane Quinn (Teddy) of Clinton and Michelle Hill of the home; his grandsons, Jimmy Driver (Lisa) and Matthew Quinn (Mindi); and his three great granddaughters, Abby Driver, Cassie Driver and Matilyn Quinn; one sister, Marie Britt (Tom) and several in-laws, nieces and nephews and Uncle, Street Hill.
The family would like to thank, Tommy Norris, brother-in-law and the staff of Liberty Hospice, especially, Joyce Lynch, Brittany Parker, Kim Faircloth and Edna Murphy. We are eternally grateful to all of you for the care, love and support that was provided.
The family will welcome friends at the home of Doris and Michelle at 103 West Pine Street, Salemburg.
