Mr. Miles Joel Parker, 71

Clinton Mr. Miles Joel "M.J." Parker, 71, of 219 Jackson-Parker Lane, died on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Corinth Baptist Church in Salemburg. The family will receive friends following the service at the church and at other times at the home at 219 Jackson-Parker Lane, Clinton. Mr. Parker was a native of Sampson County, the son of the late Simpson Parker and Mattie Ruth Jackson Holland. He was a farmer and a retired mechanic with UPS after 23 years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Butler Parker. Mr. Parker is survived by: fiancée, Rachel Kilpatrick, of Clinton; three daughters, Joy Canady and husband Darrell, of Clayton, Jill Horner and husband David, of Salemburg and Jana Parker and husband Freddie West, of Wendell; brother, Glenn Truman Parker, of Fayetteville; two sisters, Margaret Gallagher and Rena Bradshaw, both of Clinton; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Epworth United Methodist Church, 5838 Garland Hwy., Clinton, NC 28328 or to Corinth Baptist Church, 2894 Corinth Church Road, Roseboro, NC 28382.
