Michael Watts, Sr., 70 went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 surrounded by his family at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at Butler Funeral Home Chapel in Stedman, officiating will be Pastor Jerry Groves. Burial will follow at Suggs Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, May 18, 2026 at the funeral home.

Michael was born in Cumberland County to the late, William C. Watts and Barbara Jane Chavis Watts. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his brothers, William Watts, Jr., Kenneth Watts, Sr. and Stephen Watts.

Michael retired from Federal Express with over 17 years of service. He started a lawn care service after his retirement that he really enjoyed. Michael was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend. He loved drag racing and Nascar. He loved his family with his whole heart, and he will truly be missed by all who knew him.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 50 years, Mary Grice Watts; children, Tamika Ann Watts, Michael Watts, Jr., and Christopher Lynn Gray; grandchildren, Chelsea Lynne Evans, Jada Nicole Gray, Christopher Gray, Jr. (Stephanie); great grandchildren, Ja’Var Sage Bryant, St. Jireh Elias Bryant, Eden Noelle Smith, and Ella Rose Gray; brother, Gary Wayne Watts, Sr.; and his sisters, Sheila Watts Willis and Linda Darnell Watts Soto.
