Michael “Mike” Durand Outlaw, 86 went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 18, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at Salem Methodist Church, officiating will be Rev. Gil Wise.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 2:50 PM Tuesday at the church prior to the service.
Mike was born in Duplin County to the late Gordan and Ethel Outlaw. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his brother, Donald Keith Outlaw; and his sisters, Elsie Taylor and Patty Jo Outlaw.
Mike was a United States Air Force Veteran and a longtime member of Salem Methodist Church. He retired in 1998 as District Manager with Sprint Telephone Company, formerly known as Carolina Telephone. Mike was a member of Stedman Masonic Lodge, and was a Shriner, where he participated in the “Animated Animals”, as well as many other activities.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 66 years, Jean Howard Outlaw of the home; children, Darenda Lease (Tim) of Smith Mountain Lake, VA, Michelle Roach (Greg) of High Springs, FL, and Alan Outlaw of Raleigh; grandchildren, Allison (Taylor), Haley (DJ), Dylan (Julie), Jaime (Philip), Connor, Aidan, Logan, Jesse (Montana) and Amber (Nick); great grandchildren, Asher and Nora; sister, Mary Ethel Lewis; brother, Ivey Outlaw (Dolly); and sister-in-laws, Ann Herring, Trula Meadows, Faye Davis and Joan Bradshaw.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mike's memory to Salem Methodist Church, local Shriners (donate.lovetotherescue.org) or to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation (donate.brightfocus.org).
