From the family:
Since December 8th, when we told Mom about Dad’s passing, she chose not to hear, believe or acknowledge this truth. So we followed her path to acceptance and chose only to speak vaguely of his whereabouts and reassuring her that he was no longer in pain. We knew that she was aware and would accept his death on her own terms.
We were unable to foresee those terms clearly until now. In Mom’s heart and mind, she gifted us one last Christmas with them both, memorializing dad’s last birthday, and seeing us through the New Year which was their 46th and final wedding anniversary. It was soon after the 1st her status declined drastically, in such a way we could not understand what was holding her back from finding peace. In hindsight, we believe she chose to find peace only a few hours after the date of her granddaughter’s birthday.
No, Mom would not have grief overshadow days she intended to be celebrated; in our heart of hearts, we believe she may not have known when to leave this earth but she certainly knew when she would not.
The family requests that no flowers be sent but, donation may be made to your favorite charity.
