WADE Mrs. Merle Jane Rice Woodburn Holmes, 86, died Sunday, September 16, 2012 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. The funeral will be Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Bluff Presbyterian Church with Rev. Herb Young officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Bluff Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Mrs. Holmes was born on October 6, 1925 in Bladen County to the late Leonza Chaffin Rice and Nellie Gray Ray Rice. She was a seamstress . She is preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas Maurice Woodburn, second husband, William Robert Holmes and one daughter, Marsha Lynnette Kilpatrick. She is survived by: two daughters, Betty Melvin and husband, Fallon of Willow Springs, NC and Tommy Jane Roberts and husband, Bobby of Portland, OR, one brother, Charles Rice of Fayetteville, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Butler Funeral Home in Stedman. Services entrusted to Butler Funeral Home, 6535 Clinton Road, Stedman.
