Mrs. Melvine Gertie Stewart, 81 passed away Saturday, September 2, 2017 in Murfreesboro.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00pm Tuesday, September 5, at Clement Church of God of Prophecy with Terry Fowler officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7:00pm to 9:00pm Monday, September 4, at Clement Church of God of Prophecy and at other times at the home of Nancy Stewart Barefoot, 6146 New Hope Church Rd, Wade.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Burket Barbour and Gertie Ingram Barbour; husband, Matthew “Sonny Boy” Neil Stewart; granddaughter, Payton Brooke Barefoot; brothers, Hubert, Jesse, Tommy, Edward and Bill Barbour and a sister, Maverine Hicks.

She is survived by children, Donnie Neal Stewart, Carolyn Stewart Fowler & husband Terry, Sue Stewart-Lucas & husband, Marshall and Nancy Stewart Barefoot & husband, Kent; 12 grandchildren, Rodney Stewart, Shannon McLamb, Karla Stewart, Heather Markuson, Amanda Burns, Brooks Stewart, Emily Stewart, Amy Stewart, Candace Godwin, Justin Barefoot, Ethan Barefoot and Bretton Barefoot; 16 great grandchildren and sisters, Earlene Bullard and Elizabeth “Lib” Norris.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Clement Church of God of Prophecy, 3900 Maxwell Road, Autryville, NC 28318.
