AUTRYVILLE
Mr. Max B. Tew, 78 of 3797 Howard Road, Autryville, passed away Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be held 2:00 pm Friday, February 19, at Zoar Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, 740 Zoar Church Road, Salemburg, with Reverend Ernie King officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the Church Cemetery.
Mr. Tew was born January 23, 1938 in Sampson County to the late Rassie and Bertha Williams Tew.
He was a great dad, husband, and friend. He served his country in the US Navy and was a dedicated craftsmen at Kelly Springfield Tire Company for 24 years. He loved the outdoors, the mountains, the beach, and he loved to play golf. He loved his family, his grandchildren, and he loved life. Words can't express how much he was loved and the impact he made in our lives. "We love you".
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Faye Strickland Tew of the home; two sons, J.D. Tew and wife Kellie, Robert Tew and wife Madonna, both of Autryville; one sister, Maybelle Hall of Salemburg; five grandchildren, Mark Haggerty, Brooks Haggerty, Erin Dowgiallo, Dylan Tew, Daniel Tew; and four great grandchildren, Helena, Kelsie, Orion, Aurora.
The visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday, February 18, at Butler Funeral Home, 401 W. Roseboro Street, Roseboro, and other times at the home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salemburg Christian Food Bank, P.O. Box 134, Salemburg, NC 28385.
