Mrs. Mavis Jewel Tanner, 78 of Autryville went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 9, 2022 at her home.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, September 13 at Johnson Cemetery in Autryville with Rev. Richard Spell officiating.

Mrs. Tanner was a native of Bladen County, the daughter of Thomas Allen Matthews and Katie Parker Melvin.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Earl Tanner and a son, Gary Robert Tanner.  She was a homemaker.

She is survived by a daughter, Anner Tanner (Mickey Wilson) of Autryville; two sons, Thomas Tanner (Lei Burton) and Martin Tanner both of Autryville; one grandson, Leo Martin Tanner of Autryville; brother, Roy Matthews of Seattle, Washington and several nieces and nephews.
