Mrs. Mary Maxine Taylor Nesler, 93 of Stedman, formerly of Haviland, Kansas, passed away Monday, March 20, 2017 at Woodland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Fayetteville, NC.
The family will receive friends from 10:00am to 10:45am Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Butler Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 11:00am at T.J. Hall Cemetery, South River Road in Autryville, with Pastor Robert Guynn officiating.
She was born May 3, 1923 in Des Moines, Iowa. She was daughter of the late, James E. and Amelia G. (Kemp) Taylor. She was also preceded in death by four brothers; three sisters and husband, Cleo Cloyd Nesler. She attended the Des Moines public schools graduating from North High School, June 1941. After graduating she worked in downtown Des Moines at a book and bible store and in one of Iowa's foremost suppliers of athletic equipment, Hopkins Sporting Goods. On August 22, 1950, she was united in marriage to Cleo Nelser at "The Little Brown Church" at Nashua, Iowa. In 1967 she and the family moved to Haviland, KS and she worked at Friends Bible College for 21 years, 16 1/2 of those years were as a business manager, before retiring.
Cleo and Mary were blessed with a daughter, Rebecca Ruth Dent and her husband, Sam Dent; 3 grandsons, Corbett, Andrew and William Jeffrey Mercer; 2 great grandsons; 2 great granddaughters; and sister, Betty Erickson.
Services entrusted to Butler Funeral Home, 6535 Clinton Road, Stedman.
