Mrs. Mary Jewel Simmons, 70, of 4936 Autryville Road, Autryville, went to be with her Lord onAug. 11, 2006 at Duke University Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Aug. 14, 2006 at 2 PM at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro with Bishop Warren Barfield officiating. Burial will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Simmons was the daughter of the late Jessie James and Carrie Horne Williams. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Church of God of Prophecy. She was beloved and well known resident of Autryville. She devoted her life to her church and her family. She was a guardian angel to many.
Mrs. Simmons was preceded in death by her brothers, Tyson Williams, of Salemburg, Jadie,Scott and Robert Williams, all of Autryville; her sisters, Cletha Wallace, of Autryville, Gertrude Starling, of Charleston, Maryland and Mavis Croom, of Fayetteville.
Mrs. Simmons is survived by her husband of 50 years, George Ashley Simmons; two daughters, Tammy Simmons, of the home and Faye Darden and husband Bill, of Suffolk, VA; son, Ronnie Simmons and wife Barbara, of Autryville; brother, C.A. Williams and wife Frances, of Autryville; three grandchildren, Brandon Simmons and Michelle Simmons, both of Autryville and Allen Darden, of Suffolk, VA; sister-in-law, Lettie Lou Williams, of Autryville.
The family will recieve friends Sunday night, Aug. 13, 2005 from 7 till 9 PM at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro.
