Marion Carlos "Carlos" Hilton, 63, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2025, at New Hanover Hospital in Wilmington, North Carolina. Born on March 11, 1962, in Clinton, she remained deeply connected to her hometown throughout her life.
Carlos was a proud graduate of Cary High School in Cary, North Carolina. She continued her education at Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh before earning her credentials from the Mingle Institute of Real Estate in Charlotte. Her dedication to learning and professional growth laid the foundation for a remarkable career spanning more than three decades.
For over 35 years, Carlos worked as a real estate appraiser, eventually founding and operating her own successful business, MCS Appraisals. Her expertise and commitment to excellence earned her respect within the industry and among those she served.
Carlos’s life was rooted in family. She is lovingly remembered by her mother, Jane Wilson Spell; sister Mary Caroline Cleary and her sons Tyler, Christian, and Chandler; brother Thurman Telfair Simpson and his wife Rosemary and their sons Wilson and Coleman; second husband Jerrell Oneil Caskey; sons William Vance Tatum II, Jarrett Coleman Caskey and his wife Abigail, and Cameron Vann Hilton; grandsons Jordan Brentley Caskey and Waylon Tucker Caskey; as well as many cherished aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Needham Leonidas Wilson and Marion Carlos Wilson; paternal grandparents Thurman Telfair Simpson Sr. and Wilma Pope Simpson; father Thurman Telfair Simpson Jr.; stepfather Charlie James Spell; first husband William Vance Tatum; third husband Barry Vann Hilton; and beloved son Jordan Oneil Caskey.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 2:00pm at First Methodist Church located at 208 Sampson Street in Clinton, North Carolina. A private family graveside service will follow.
The family welcomes visitors at Carlos’s residence at 1012 Raleigh Road, Clinton, NC 28328.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Atrium Health Levine Children's Center or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital—causes close to Carlos’s heart.
