Mrs. Marie (Bryant) Backer, 91 went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 18, 2023 at Harborview in Lumberton.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, December 22, 2023 at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro with the Reverend Ernest Ray Backer officiating. The burial will follow at Beaver Dam Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 to 11:50 AM on Friday, December 22, 2023 at the funeral home prior to the service.

Mrs. Backer was a native of Cumberland County, the daughter Lalister Bernard and Mollie Parrish Bryant. She was preceded in death by her parents; her two sisters, Maurine Gardner and Joan Gardner; and her brother, Lalister Bernard Bryant, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Leah Garcia and husband, Ed of Hope Mills; three sons, Ernest Ray Backer and wife, Carrie of Burlington; Augustine Backer of Charlotte; and Charles Backer and wife, Linda of Meggett, SC; six grandchildren; and four sisters, Mary Jane Bryant of Roseboro; Dorothy Vinson of Roseboro; Polly Bryant of Roseboro; and Sybil Brown of Piedmont, SC.
