Mrs. Margaret V. Jaynes, 95

AUTRYVILLE MOURNS LOSS OF A VERY GRACIOUS LADY Mrs. Margaret Vinson Jaynes was born March 3, 1913 and went peacefully to be with her Savior on January 24, 2009. She was preceded in death by her parents, I.L. Vinson, Sr. and Emma Cooper Vinson; her husband, Ben Jaynes; a sister Myrene Vinson; two brothers, Irwin Lynch Vinson and Herman Vinson and a niece, Emily Stoffa. She is survived by a nephew, I.L. "Chip" Vinson,III; two great-nieces: Kelly and Kristen Vinson; two great-nephews: Chad and Michael Vinson. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 28 at 11:00 AM in Autryville Baptist Church with Revs. Ronald Long, Richard Spell and Roger White officiating. Burial will follow in Autryville Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives on Tuesday, January 27 from 6 to 8 PM at Butler Funeral Home in Stedman. Mrs. Jaynes attended elementary school in Autryville and high school and two years of college at Pineland School for Girls in Salemburg. She earned her bachelor's degree at Atlantic Christian College (now Barton College), as well as a master's degree in education and a principal's certificate at East Carolina Teacher's College (now East Carolina University). She began her teaching career at the age of eighteen at Clement High School in Sampson County. Later she became a teacher in Cumberland County. Before her retirement she was principal at Stedman Elementary School (now Stedman Primary). Mrs. Jaynes was a "Mother" to many as she acquired a big family through the Cumberland County School System. She was a role model for teachers and students alike. She was joyful and complimentary as she touched lives. She never wanted praise but did so much as Autryville's post-mistress, town historian, clerk, and a church leader. She shared what she had with others and was an excellent cook who always gave "large" portions. In Autryville,"Micajah" became alive through her leadership in writing and directing this outdoor drama and sponsoring the Autryville Parade and Little Miss Autryville Pageant. Eternity has welcomed her. She is safe in the arms of Jesus and she suffers no more. We are better for having known this "Gracious Lady", Mrs. Margaret Vinson Jaynes. Service are entrusted to Butler Funeral Home, 6535 Clinton Road, in Stedman.
