Mrs. Margaret Crumpler Fisher, 88

Roseboro Mrs. Margaret Crumpler Fisher, 88, of 601 E. Clinton Street, Roseboro, died at her home Saturday, June 25, 2011. She was born on October 18, 1922 in Sampson County to the late Thomas Webster and Vara Butler Crumpler. She graduated from Roseboro High School in 1939 and from Pineland College with a one-year degree in business in 1940. Mrs. Fisher worked with BB&T in Fayetteville before marrying her beloved husband of 62 years, the late Lenon H. Fisher, Sr., in 1943. Throughout the years of their marriage, Mrs. Fisher worked actively beside her husband in his various business interests. She was secretary, bookkeeper, and partner in Fisher's Insurance and Real Estate Agency for over 50 years. As a devoted wife and mother, she was an excellent cook and seamstress. She enjoyed playing golf. Mrs. Fisher was a faithful member of Roseboro United Methodist Church serving for many years as a member of the choir, United Methodist Women, and the Altar Guild and as treasurer of the Fidelis Sunday School Class. In her younger years, she was a teacher in the children's Sunday school department and played piano for their assemblies. Mrs. Fisher is survived by one daughter, Gayle F. Naylor of Roseboro; two sons, Lenon H. Fisher, Jr. and wife Diane of Elizabethtown and Ray Clark Fisher and wife Faye, of Roseboro; six grandchildren, Eric Fisher and Kent Fisher of Elizabethtown, Summerlyn N. Faircloth and husband Stephen of Roseboro, Paige F. Smith and husband Kelvin of Harrells, Meredith Fisher and Cameron Fisher of Roseboro; two great-grandchildren, Shelby Smith and Mason Smith; one step-great-grandchild Corey Faircloth; two sisters, Maxine C. West of Roseboro and Dixie C. Blackmon and husband Steve of Raleigh. Mrs. Fisher was predeceased by a brother, Rayford Crumpler. The funeral will be held at 6:30 p.m., Monday, June 27, at Roseboro United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bobby Herring officiating. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall immediately following the funeral with a later private graveside service.
