SALEMBURG
Mr. Mack Dixon Smith, 77 of 5604 Tyndall Bridge Road, Salemburg, died on Monday, August 6, 2012 at the home of his daughter.
A private graveside service will be held at Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Allen West officiating.
He was born on January 4, 1935 in Sampson County to the late Vander and Brilla Williams Smith. He is preceded in death by his parents; and two sons, Cary Smith and Rodney Smith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was a retired supervisor with the N.C. Department of Transportation.
He is survived by: his wife, Dr. Betty J. Smith of the home; his daughter, Lana Smith VanStory of Fayetteville; one son, Bronzie Smith and wife, Darley of Salemburg; four grandchildren, Aiden Libero, Scarlett VanStory, Damien Zandiotis and Tigre Shook; two step-grandchildren, Ashley Melvin and Ciji Spell; six great grandchildren; four sisters, Phyllis Ring of Michigan, Joyce Jackson of Clinton, Betty Lou Holland of Salemburg and Annette Tew of Rocky Mount; and one brother, Charles Smith of Oak Island.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Union Grove Baptist Church, 395 Vander Road, Salemburg, NC 28385.
