Mrs. Mabel Draughon Fann, 79, of Roseboro NC, went to be with the Lord Sunday, March 5, 2023 at home surrounded by her family.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at Union Grove Baptist Church in Salemburg, NC with Rev. Marc Walters, Rev. Shawn Berryhill, and Rev Larry McCarty officiating. The burial will be followed in the church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 PM to 8 PM on Friday, March 10, at Union Grove Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
Mrs. Fann was born in Sampson County, and is the daughter of Frank and Mary Draughon. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers William Draughon, Thomas Draughon, and Elmer Draughon along with three sisters Estelle Vanhorn, Ann Sessoms, and Annette Cottle.
Mabel was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend. She worked at Hamilton Beach for over 25 years. Her love and passion for cooking led her to work at Fann’s Restaurant, Corner Restaurant and the Walmart Bakery where she retired in 2015. She was an active member at Union Grove Baptist Church for over 60 years where she taught many years as a Sunday School teacher. She was involved with Covenant Word and served many areas of the church where she used her gift of cooking and serving others.
Mabel was well loved by everyone who knew her, but most importantly she loved her family friends like no other, and she made sure they knew it. She was exceptionally kind, strong, hardworking and devoted to all things she cherished in life. Mabel was passionate about her home, cooking, but most of all she was passionate about her faith and love for Jesus Christ. This love was the legacy that she has left behind to many generations of children and grandchildren.
She was married for 52 years to the love of her life who preceded her in death Thomas “Man” Fann. She was survived by, two sons Lee Fann and wife Connie, Tommy Fann and wife Denise, both of Roseboro, three daughters, Tammy Johnson and husband Kevin of Four Oaks, Lora Fann and husband Wayne of Roseboro and Christy Myers and husband Ronnie of Dunn. She had nine grandchildren Crystal Tippett (TJ), Alphus Fann (Kendra), Austin Fann (Megan), Grant Johnson (Elizabeth), Andrew Myers (Kendall), Taylor Harrah (Mike), Zachary Fann, Ethan Myers and Emily Myers. Ten Great-Grandchildren Kennedy, Jaxson, Townshend, Georgia, Carrington, Mila, Eden Claire, Tate, Cameron, and Chloe. She has two brothers Larry Draughon and wife Ellen, Glenn Draughon, and three sisters Laura Hollingsworth, Lucy Luchetti and husband Joseph, and Connie Beal and husband Lathan, and sister in law Eddie Draughon. She had lots of nieces and nephews, who she cherished.
