Mr. Liston Ray Gist, 75 of 5508 Percy Strickland Road, went to be with the Lord Sunday, March 26, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born in Cumberland County to the late, Luther Henry Gist and Annie Mae Ruffin Gist. He is also preceded in death by his brother, David Gist and sister, Judith Ann Pomroy. He retired from Cargil Fayetteville after 33 years of service and was recently employed with Martins Pork Products in Falcon.

He is survived by his wife, Pearl Gist of the home; children, Liston Daniel Gist & wife, Tracy of Wade and Ray Gist & wife, Tonia of Godwin; grandchildren, Lana Paige Gist and Carson Ray Gist; brother, Ronnie Gist of Eastover; sisters, Shirley Montes of Eastover, Betty Osborne of Fayetteville and Bonnie Gardner of Roseboro; former daughter-in-law, Robin McLaurin of Wade; and brothers-in-law, Danny Hales & wife, Ann of Shallotte, Doug Tyndall & wife, Debra of Reidsville and Earl Bowman & wife, Arbiedella of Fairmont.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm Thursday, March 30, 2017 at South River Community Church in Wade, officiating will be Rev. Lyn McLaurin, Rev. Wayne Anders and Rev. Carolyn Anders. Interment will follow at Old Bluff Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Wade.

The family will receive friends from 7:00pm to 9:00pm Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at the church.
