Mrs. Linda Sue Barber Pope, 68 of Clinton went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 3, 2023 at Southwood Nursing Center.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church with Rev. Andy Wood and Rev. Chris Butler officiating.  Burial will follow in the Harnett Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro and at other times at 2217 Rabbit Street, Clinton, NC.

Mrs. Pope was a native of Sampson County, the daughter of Alphonza White Barber and Sue Carol Tyndall Barber.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Douglas Lynn Pope, Sr. and a brother, Wilbert Barber.

Linda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.  She was a retired school teacher with the Sampson County Schools.

She is survived by a son, Douglas Lynn Pope, Jr and wife, Colleen of Clinton; daughter, Susie Pope Phillips and husband, Neil of Roseboro; six grandchildren, Vander Phillips, Evander Pope, Nathan Pope, Avery Phillips, Annielynn Pope and Wyatt Phillips; sister, Julie Autry (Michael); four brothers, Jimmy Barber (Lois), Duke Barber, Dwight Barber (Cynthia) and Charles Barber (Teresa).
