Mr. Lester Hinson, 88

STEDMAN

Mr. Lester Hinson, 88, of Stedman died Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. He was born in Laurel Hill, NC on May 18, 1927, one of nine children of Raeford Hinson and Nettie Peele Hinson. After high school he joined the US Army and served in the Korean War, receiving the Purple Heart among other commendations. He later worked with Holt-Williamson Textile Manufacturing Co., in Fayetteville. In his later years "Papa", as he was known to his family, enjoyed working with his chicken house and tending to his flowers. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Louise Hinson who passed away in 2012.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, August 15 at Autryville New Life Church of God with Rev. Larry Autry and Rev. Alan Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Survivors include three daughters, Cathy Martin of Stedman, Julie Autry of Autryville and Alice Faye Bullock of Stedman; three sons, Richard Hinson of Stedman, Larry Hinson of Hope Mills and Allen Hinson of Autryville; sixteen grandchildren and twenty-six great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday, August 14 at Butler Funeral Home in Stedman.
