SALEMBURG
Mrs. Lessie Pope Butler Holland, 90 of 402 Butler Road, Salemburg, passed away Sunday, February 21, 2016 at Southwood Nursing and Retirement Center.
The funeral will be held at 3:00 pm Tuesday, February 23, at Union Grove Baptist Church, 395 Vander Road, Salemburg, with Reverend Donald Keith Carter, Reverend David Williams, Reverend Rob Wingo, and Reverend Allen West officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Holland was born on November 11, 1925 in Sampson County and is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Addie P. Pope; first husband, Dannie Von Butler; second husband, Crosby Holland; granddaughter, Jennie Honeycutt; sister, Ruby Honeycutt; and brothers, McKinley Pope, Cleophas Pope, Harold Lee Pope.
She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and neighbor. She worked for Pope Monument and was a custodian for Union Grove Baptist Church for years. She was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, WMU Director, and Choir Member.
She is survived by her daughter, Alidine and husband Reverend Paul Honeycutt of Salemburg; one sister, Dorothy Jackson and husband Brewer of Salemburg; one brother, Jarvis Pope and wife Betty of Fayetteville; two sisters-in-law, Lottie Pope of Fayetteville, Ernestine Westbrook of Wade; one brother-in-law, Rhudon Butler of Salemburg; several nieces and nephews; and two special nephews, Gary Butler and wife Cynthia, Larry Butler and wife Debbie.
The visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Monday, February 22, at Butler Funeral Home, 401 W. Roseboro Street, Roseboro, and other times at 402 Butler Road, Salemburg.
The family would like to thank Ann Honeycutt, Edna Honeycutt, Nurses with Sampson Home Health, and the staff of Southwood Nursing and Retirement Center for their special care given during her sickness.
