Mr. Leon Earthy Chesnutt, 87

SALEMBURG

Mr. Leon Earthy Chesnutt, 87 of Salemburg, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Mary Gran Nursing Center in Clinton.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday at Butler Funeral Home, 401 W. Roseboro Street, Roseboro, with Reverend Andy Wood officiating. Burial will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Salemburg.

He was born in Sampson County to the late A.V. Chesnutt and Eunice Strickland Chesnutt. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Alton Chesnutt and Austin Chesnutt; and sister, Elma West. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother. He attended Beulah United Methodist Church and was a farmer.

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Jacqueline "Jackie" Chesnutt; children, Leon Michael Chesnutt and Veronica "Cookie" Sink of Rocky Mount, VA, Russell Chesnutt and Joan of Oak Island, Gail Benton and Gary of Parkersburg Community, Garland, and Anthony Chesnutt and Pamela of Benson; sister, Glenda Herring of Clinton; grandchildren, Darby Snyder, Terran Chesnutt, Kelly Cleckler and Jason, Eric Chesnutt, Brandi Philipps and Adam, Lindsay Graham and John, Scott Chesnutt, Brandon Chesnutt, and Faith Chesnutt; and great grandchildren, Kaylee Chesnutt, Karis Chesnutt, and Jack Philipps.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 10:45 am Wednesday prior to the service and other times at 1323 Parkersburg Road, Garland.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to a Church or charity of choice.
