Mr. Leo Dawson Carr, 93

STEDMAN Mr. Leo Dawson Carr, 93 of 7830 Clinton Road passed away in his home on December 9, 2010. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 12th at 2:00 PM in Cokesbury United Methodist Church in Stedman with burial following in Lafayette Memorial Park in Fayetteville. A wake will be held at Butler Funeral Home in Stedman from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Saturday, December 11th. Mr. Carr was born July 11, 1917 in Cumberland County, the son of the late Frank Carr and Leona Williams Carr. He owned Carr's Electrical Service and also farmed for more than two decades. He later served as Electrical Inspector for Cumberland County for twenty-five years. A lifetime and faithful member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church in Stedman he was known as "The Candy Man" and enjoyed helping Santa each year by finding out what kids wanted for Christmas. His favorite activities included attending church, gardening, collecting arrowheads, playing croquet, horseshoes, and checkers, and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include his wife of 75 years, Carita Horne Carr, who still resides in their home in Stedman. Also his son, Dawson V. Carr and wife, Bobbi of West End; daughter, Ann Mabe and husband Mark of Stedman; 6 grandchildren Larry Carr and Greg Carr of Charlotte, Rebecca Schrodt and husband, Steve of Pinehurst, Scott Carr of Raleigh, Amy Bradshaw of Stedman, and Laura Mabe of Asheboro; 5 great-grandchildren, Brandi Carr and Trevor Carr of Charlotte, Andrew Schrodt and Jordan Schrodt of Pinehurst and Devin Carr of Raleigh.
